 First two weeks in Oxfordshire!

Today marks two weeks and 4 days since I left Finland. Everything still feels so new and exciting and I don't feel homesick (yet). I think to adapt to a new country and language takes time but already it seems that I've settled and developed many amazing relationships.

I spent the first four days of my exchange in London, in a Welcome Camp where I met so many exchange students from all over the world who felt very anxious and excited of meeting their host-families and starting the upcoming year. We prepared ourselves with different kinds of tasks and got the chance to ask any questions we had before actually travelling to our own destinations!

In London, we also went to see Wicked The Musical, which was amazing and then explored Madame Tussauds and all the other tourist attractions in London. It was fun that we stayed at the University of Roehampton instead of a hotel.

On the 31st of August, I woke up feeling very nervous because it was finally time to leave for Abingdon and Oxford to meet my new family!

My host-mum had come to greet me when I got off the bus. She and my host-dad drove me into my new house where I met my two host-sisters and their 4 lovely dogs.

They've been incredibly welcoming the whole time and they've made me feel so at home.
I feel so grateful to have so caring and funny people around me!

The school has been fun and interesting as well as hard sometimes with the language. I've gotten many new friends at school and we've been hanging in Abingdon and in Oxford many times!

Last summer I fell in love with Oxford and going back there for the first time after a year felt unreal. I remembered all the places we went to the things we experienced and why I chose to come back.

In Abingdon, we went to see The Lion King at The Abbey cinema. Abingdon is a lovely city and I can't wait to explore the more with my family and friends.

Next Friday the 20th of September the University of Oxford has it's Open Door Days which I'm gonna go to. In October at Halloween, my host-sisters are going to take me to Thorpe Park to experience what Halloween is like in the UK and then it's Christmas time and my 18th birthday!
